PDX Peep

Photos of our past week will appear later today, I promise, but I wanted to kick you off to a sweet start today. Warning: I can not be held accountable for any mad rushes to the pantry or vending machine for a sweet snack caused by viewing the following photos.

Last week the Whole Foods Market Portland metro held a first ever combined Team Member appreciation party. It was pretty awesome to see over 1000 Team Members and their families milling about. Each store’s bakery team crafted a cake, to represent each store in the metro. We left before getting a slice, but man, did they look tasty.

Loving the talent and creativity of my coworkers.

Happy Monday!

It is true, that while lovely, adorable, and cute as can be, Ella ia really a calculating mini germ pool, sneaking around the house just waiting to attack. Never in my adult live have I been so caught up in off again on again colds. Thanks Ella. First, The mister got it first, recovering just in time to have one of the greatest live  music weekends ever, while I postponed the inevitable to make it though some important deadlines at work, then spent my weekend curled up in a ball of sickness. Dislike.

Treating myself to a little morning liquid gold at Stumptown.

Installing new chalkboards! Remodel almost complete.

Sweet Potato Spinach Puffs for Ella, a new recipe which she loves.

This past weekend it was 85 degrees, but the leaves are still turning.

Ella takes her first bento to school. PBJ, steamed green beans and carrots, and diced avocado.

New hauls from Powell's. Lucky Peach, my first copy of Every Day Food, and a new Moleskin Journal.

Loving lunchtime.

Sometimes, weekends seem long, and some weekends I simply can not accept that monday has come- though my Mondays are Sundays which seems even more unfair, but my Saturdays are Fridays so, not terrible.

This weekend was absolutely the latter, over before I knew it but not without it’s perks.

Ella celebrated her first birthday party a couple weeks ago and she (we) were so lucky to have our very talented photographer friends Erin and Mat in town from NYC to capture it all. Erin and Mat run a very successful photography business out of their home in Brooklyn, everything from weddings to fashion week to large events. They have a way of making everything and everyone look good. Not that Ella is a tough subject.

Ella celebrated 365 days of eating, sleeping, and pooping with a little fiesta in our back yard. All her besties were there, Miles, Blake, Gunner, Olivia, Amelia, Lucas, Blake and Andrea, not to mention her BF BG and Adam, and her hommie Anna. Grandma Pam, Papa and Mema, Auntie Jamie.

Adluts and individuals conditioned to handle the sugar content of frosting enjoyed a lovely carrot cake from Whole Foods Market, while Ella had this delicious low sugar, whole wheat apple and sweet potato cake, frosted with a sweet potato cashew cream. She loved it.

Also a large thank you to Lagunitas, sponsor of Ella’s first birthday, for donating three cases of beer.

Oh man. It was hot hot hot this past week in Portland. Like, up in the 90′s hot. Most of the summer we’ve been braving 60 degree weather in shorts with a smile to prove, yes, summer, we accept your balmy, chill. But not this week. My brow was a sweating. Here a peek at what we’ve been up to.

Walk, Roll and Run, our booth at this year's event.

Merchandising at the Pottery Barn, I love these napkins on the wall.
